The Brunswick i-Jet Lab is located at Research Park, a vibrant technology innovation hub on UIUC (University of Illinois – Urbana/Champaign) campus comprised of 100+ companies, 50+ startups, and thousands of collective employees. As part of the technology driven ecosystem at Research Park, we focus on Autonomy and Electrification in the recreational marine environment. Qualified candidates will have interest in exploring cutting edge technologies and a desire to mentor collegiate interns with similar interests. The candidate would focus on simulation of electrical propulsion systems for the marine environment. Success in this team requires developing new capabilities into the business, a pipeline of student talent that is prepared to stretch the organization, and products/solutions that are prepared to merge with the enterprise development portfolio.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Technical lead for electrical simulation team
  • Mentor interns to develop a pipeline of simulation talent into the business units
  • Conduit for technical communication across business units, coordinating inputs for system and component level modeling
  • Collaboration on electric propulsion architecture

Desired Skills

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Exposure to Ansys, Matlab, Simulink or similar
  • Knowledge and/or experience required in one or more of the following areas:
    • Electromechanics
    • Electrical systems
    • Power electronics
    • Power management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with design or analysis of battery-electric and hybrid-electric systems
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical simulation (Ansys, Simulink, Comsol, etc)
  • Experience with electric mobility platforms
